Adrenalin Sports

The term Adrenalin Sports could be applied to any number of Youth Culture pursuits such as skateboarding or BMX today but Hi-Jinks believe the true definition of the phrase lies in the activities originally described in this way. Ground breaking expeditions in the early 90’s penetrated the last known wildernesses harnessing vast improvements in technical understanding and equipment to beak down the greatest of Mother Natures barriers. Commercial expedition rafting, climbing, mountain biking and the natural bridge-span bungee jumps that cross the worlds deepest gorges owe their existence to just a handful of determined explorers.

White water rafting is simply the most accessible yet adventurous adrenalin sport available. No skill other than the ability to swim is required yet within minutes of departure the guest is experiencing wilderness, the elements, adventure and the thrill that comes from riding the roaring rapids of the planets greatest rivers. Nowhere are these thrills as easily unlocked than on the Zambezi, the Apurimac (source of the Amazon) or the melt waters of the majestic Everest valley.

Bungee from a high span bridge parapet is a big step up from the normal experience. The rushing waters below your feet seem all too close yet are actually over 100 metres down. From your vantage point the scenery is spectacular, the buzz intense. As a step, it’s one of the average mans biggest.

Mountain Bikes today gather grit and grime from puddles on the daily commute. Imagine instead breaking trail through Yellowstone Park, breathing the rarefied air on the Tibetan border or hell for leather 10mile descents in the Alps, this is mountain biking. In the mountains.

Climbing the smooth faces of the Rockies is a beginners dream whilst also affording the expert a vast array of more challenging routes. Don’t let the experience be just the climb, the view is important too.

Canyoning represents a combination of mountain skills including climbing, abseiling and swimming in waterfall fed pools of smooth rock and crystal clear spring water. Alpine canyoning is an intense but rewarding experience requiring dexterity, ingenuity, stamina and courage.

Paragliding in tandem with a qualified instructor means that, even on your first flight, you can soar with eagles high above snow capped mountain summits. Might sound over romantic but we’re not exaggerating.

Surf is perhaps the original fusion of human skill and natural elements that results in a single spiritual experience (evidently) and is now widely practised all around the world. It’s the pull of the great oceans, the Pacific and Caribbean coasts of Costa Rica, the Indian or Atlantic oceans of South Africa that bring Hi-Jinks back time and again.

Riding is a fantastic way to experience wilderness. Let your new-found companion take the strain as you cross the mountain meadows of the Rockies or gallop the white sand beaches of the Caribbean.
